utumn Appraisals, LLC is a full service, certified real estate appraisal company. Our roots run deep in the Connecticut soil. We go back to 1975 when company founder, Thomas E. Gallagher, began his trade.
Originally under the banner of "Thomas E. Gallagher Associates" the company provided niche services to the evolving changes in the real estate marketplace. These included providing appraisals for the legal field in matters ranging from estates, trusts, and divorce conflicts to partition suits. After a short while we were providing appraisal services for area municipalities in matters that included tax foreclosures, right-of-way appraisals, revaluation, and redevelopment takings.
In the 80's the firm provided services to FDIC, the Resolution Trust and leading lenders during the post banking crisis arising from the Savings & Loan scandals of the period.
In the 90's one of the new factors arising from the banking crisis was the FIRREA legislation as passed by the Congress of the United States. Among the many changes and corrections the law mandated, for the first time, State licensing for members of the appraisal industry. Our firm was one of the first to hold the coveted General Appraiser designation and soon found itself being called upon more and more for residential mortgage appraisals.
At the century mark in 2000 the firm was fully recognized as Certified General Appraisers and in the Federal Registry as recognized FHA appraisers.
This decade has become a time of expansion and opportunity for the mortgage industry. If Rip Van Winkle was a banker who fell asleep in 1983 and woke up in 2003 he would hardly recognize his business. The high tech changes, the ability to make instantaneous lending decisions, the ability for lenders to leave the confines of very localized markets to virtually go anywhere would no doubt amaze old Rip.
We pride ourselves with being on the cutting edge as evidenced by this superb web site. We are a truly statewide company as we like to tell prospective clients...
"Like Autumn leaves we cover Connecticut"...
